9 Day Sichuan Pheasants Photo Tour

Day 1: Your arrival in Chengdu Tianfu Airport

Arrive in Chengdu and transfer to Pingshan (250 km, 4 hours). Depending on your arrival time, we may be able to arrange an afternoon photography session. 

Overnight at Deshengyuan Hotel.

Day 2-3: Spend full days photographing from hides. 

Target species will include Lady Amherst's Pheasant, Silver Pheasant, Temminck's Tragopan, Sichuan Partridge, and Emeishan Liocichla from the blinds. 

Other possible species include Elliot’s Laughingthrush, Rusty Laughingthrush, Golden Parrotbill, Golden Fulvetta, Streaked-breasted Scimitar Babbler, Chinese Bamboo Partridge, Red-winged Laughingthrush, and Himalayan Blue-tail. Overnight at Deshengyuan Hotel.

Day 4: Pingshan to Xinduqiao

After morning birding, we will drive to Xinduqiao ( 470 km, 7 hours) for an overnight stay at an elevation of 3,600 meters.

Day 5: Xinduqiao to Kangding

Early morning bird photography in Kangding targeting the White-eared Pheasant and Blood Pheasant. Other birds in the area may include Elliot’s Laughingthrush, White-browed Rosefinch, Rufous-breasted Accentor, Robin Accentor, and Giant Laughingthrush. Afterward, drive to the site of the Chinese Monal and stay at a Guesthouse.

Day 6: Kangding

Full day photographing the Chinese Monal.

Day 7: Kangding

Spend the morning photographing the Chinese Monal again, then drive back to Kangding for an overnight stay.

Day 8: Kangding to Wenchuan

In the morning, photograph Lady Amherst’s Pheasant and Common Pheasant against the backdrop of the snow-capped mountains. In the afternoon, drive to Wenchuan ( 330 km, 4.5 hours).

Day 9: Wenchuan to Chengdu

Spend the entire morning photographing the Golden Pheasant, then drive back to Chengdu Airport (150 km, 2.5 hours). for your midnight departure. Alternatively, you can opt for an airport hotel with shuttle service included for the next day
