7 Days Inner Mongolia Owls Photo Tour

Wulqhihan, located in Yakeshi City of Hulunbuir, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, is situated in the Daxing'anling forest area. Each winter, bird species from the extreme north migrate here to spend the winter, including the Snowy Owl, Little Owl, Beared Reedling, Snow Bunting, Pine Bunting, Rough-legged Buzzard, Common Kestrel, Saker Falcon. For birders in South and East Asia, wintering in Wulqhihan provides an excellent opportunity to observe these birds, saving you the cost of a round-trip ticket to Northern Europe.
ITINERARY


Day 1: Arrive at Hailar Airport

Arrive at Hailar Airport in the morning, and it is recommended to arrive before 9 AM (if you cannot arrive by this time, an earlier arrival is suggested). Afterward, head out to search for Snowy Owls, Snow Buntings and other birds. Drive to Wuerqihan city ( 2.5hrs, Poor road condition)，stop at a few wetlands on the way for possible wetlands birds, Tufted Duck,l Common Goldeneye, Common Merganser, Brown-cheeked Water rail,Band-bellied Crake, Swinhoe's Rail,Night at Wuerqihan. 


Day 2-6: Full days birding in Wulqhihan. Search for target bird species in the nearby forest area over the next few days. 

Primary target species include: Snowy Owl, Ural Owl, Great Grey Owl, and Northern Hawk Owl, Black-billed Capercallian, Hazel Grouse, Black Grouse, Siberian Jay, Greater,Lesser Spotted,Three-toed, white-backed, black woodpecker, Gray's Grasshopper Warbler, Pallas’s Grasshopper Warbler,Chinese Bush Warbler,Band-bellied Crake, Swinhoe's Rail,Brown-cheeked Water rail, Schrenck’Bittern，Siberian Thrush, Eye-browed Thrush, Red-flanked Bluetail, Yellow-rumped, taiga flycatcher,e tc.

In addition, you will have the opportunity to observe various mammals, including the Corsac Fox, Red Fox, Siberian Roe Deer, Raccoon Dogs, Wild Boars, Elk, Mountain Hares, Manchurian Pikas, Sable, and Wolverine, among others.

Overnight in Wulqhihan.


Day 7: Final search for the birds, and then arrange transportation to the airport. It is advisable to select flights departing after 6 PM to return.
