15 Days China Pheasants Photo Tour

China is known by the birders for the amazing pheasants. Recent years, there're many bird hides built by the local allow birders to watch and photograph those misery species easily. In this China Highlights Pheasants Tour, we will focus on the photographing of the pheasants as well as some of the local endemics.

Highlights: Lady Armherst’s pheasant, Silver Pheasant, Temminck’s Tragopan, Sichuan Partridge, White-eared Pheasant and Blood Pheasant, Chinese Monal, Golden Pheasant, Reeve’s Pheasant, Cabot's tragopan, Elliot's Pheasant, white-necklaced Partridge

Locations: Chengdu-Pinshan-Kangding-Wenchuan-Chengdu-Xinyang-Sanming

Best seasons: from March to May

ITINERARY


Day 1  Your arrive in Chengdu then transfer to Pingshan (250km  4hrs).  

It depends on your arrival time, we may arrange photographing in the afternoon.  

Overnight in Deshengyuan Hotel




Day 2-3  Full days photograph in the hide.

Bird photographing for Lady Armherst’s pheasant, Silver Pheasant, Temminck’s Tragopan, Sichuan Partridge, Emeishan Liocichla.(from blind)

Other possible species: Elliot’s, Rusty Laughingthrush, Golden Parrotbill, Golden Fulvetta, Streaked-breasted Scimitar Babbler, Chinese Bamboo Partridge, Red-winged Laughingthrush, Himalayan Blue-tail, etc.

Overnight in Deshengyuan Hotel





Day 4  Pingshan to (430km, 6hrs)

After the morning photographing, we will then drive to Xinduqiao for overnight.




Day 5  Xinduqiao birding

Start very early in the morning to photographing the White-eared Pheasant and Blood Pheasant. Other birds here: Elliot’s Lauphingthrush, White-browed rosefinch, Rufous-breased Accentor, Robin Accentor, Giant Laughingthrush, etc.

Then drive to the Chinese Monal site, Overnight at the guesthouse.




Day 6  Full day for the Chinese Monal



Day 7  Morning Chinese Monal, afternoon back to Kangding


Day 8  Kangding to Wenchuan

Morning photographing the Lady Armherst’s pheasant and common pheasant(snow mountain background).

Drive Wenchuan in the afternoon(330km,4.5 hrs).



Day 9  Wenchuan to Chengdu

Full day photographing the Golden Pheasant, and then drive back to Chengdu(135km, 2hrs)


Day 10  Chengdu to Xinyang

Fly from Chengdu to Xinyang, and pick up by the local transfer to the Reeve’s pheasant site near Xinyang county for overnight.


Day 11  Xinyang

Full day Reeve's pheasant photographing.   Overnight in Xinyang.



Day 12,  Xinyang to Sanming

Morning for the Reeve’s Pheasant, Take a bullet train to Sanming in Fujian Province. Pick up by the local.



Day 13-15,  Sanming and Around

Full days photographing the Silver pheasant, Cabot's tragopan, Elliot's Pheasant, white-necklaced Partridge

Day 16,  Departure from Sanming Airport.   

There're flights connecting to Chengdu, Shanghai, Guangzhou
